Our Practice

Our practice is dedicated to the treatment of advanced biliary and pancreatic diseases which were once exclusively in the surgical domain.   Dr. Aliperti accepts patient referrals from physicians all over the United States; however, most of the greater than 1,000 cases performed annually come from patients all over the Midwest.

Emergencies

If you have a true medical emergency you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.  If you have an urgent need, please contact our office so we may perform the appropriate triage. 

Office Policies

Appointments:  New patients should fill out patient registration/history forms ahead of time if possible.  Please be sure to bring a copy of your driver's license and insurance card(s).  In order to make the most of the time you spend in our office, it is imperative we have copies of your records related to reason for your office visit.  This includes any lab studies, MRI's of the abdomen, CT scans, other radiology procedure i. e., UGI, Ultrasound of abdomen, HIDA scan (nuclear studies of gallbladder), previous Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy studies.  If you have had your gallbladder removed, it is useful to have a copy of the operative note and pathology report.

Cancellations:  We attempt to contact you 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to remind you of the time of your appointment.  If you are unable to keep your appointment or need to reschedule; kindly give 24 hours notice, otherwise a $75 charge will be made for the time reserved.  This also allows for us to schedule a patient who is on the cancellation list. 

Insurance and Referrals

Please obtain HMO/TriCare referrals well in advance of the appointment.  We will file insurance claims for you as part of our services. 

If you are having a procedure or test, our insurance department will contact the appropriate insurance company with the appropriate testing codes to ensure certification is obtained.

Co-Payments

Insurance regulations require payment of these encounter fees at the time of service.   The appointment reminder call will also remind you of the co-pay amount.

FMLA and Short-Term Disability

There is a fee of $15.00 for completion of standard FMLA forms.  Short-term disability and extensive FMLA forms will be completed for a fee of $25.00. 

Please contact Marge Carney for information regarding fees for request for records for other purposes, i.e., transfer to other physicians, disability, attorneys, etc.

Prescription Refills

Please ask your pharmacy to fax a refill request.  Due to the volume of calls, we cannot complete refill requests over the telephone.  Please do not wait until you are out of medication to request a refill.  It may take 24-28 hours to complete the refill request.

Telephone Calls

Routine phone calls should be made to our office between the hours of 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Emergency telephone calls after office hours should be directed to the medical exchange at 314-388-6269.  True medical emergencies that cannot wait should prompt a call to 911. 

Return calls will be made throughout the day and after office visits (after 5 PM).  If the call is urgent, please be sure to communicate this to the medical assistant. Please be sure to leave the phone number where you can best be contacted and how long you will be at this number. Repeat phone calls will only delay return calls.
